1. Situation

Some of you maybe not know Andermatt/Switzerland: It's a small village in the middle of the Swiss alps. It also is an important traffic junction surrounded of tunnels and passes.

The material and the whole climatic situation with all its influences is very interesting for enviroment-friendly constructions. An overview shows us that typical "volcania-construction modelell" is just in some important points of view similar to the resort-project of Orascom. We will present some of them in short words.

The high standard of technology, the knowledge in engineering of drilling, the important budget und the support of many lobbyists in politics and medias are necessary for realizing a project like "The hanging gardens of Andermatt". But it's an investment into future, confident and just logic. The extraordinary building and the beauty of the surroundings will attract many tourists and radiate a kind of a pioneer-power in modern architecture.

1.1. Locality

Andermatt is situated in a sunny, wide valley. The northeastern hill called Bäzberg is extensivly used by the Swiss army (some bunkers) and seems to be qualified for the construction of a hotel resort.

Andermatt has to be protected with a shield because of the danger of avalanches (image).

The tourism seasons are winter (skiing) and summer (mountaineering, hiking). All of these activities are taking place on the other side of the valley, on hills called Gurschen/Nätschen.

Notice that the big plain in the bottom of the valley is currently used by the army and a few farmers, too. It's planned to transform tis plain into a 18 hole golf-course.

In this stage we don't know, about what kind of allotment the working group is negociating with the government as land-owner. The small river Furkareuss is deviding the plain in two parts.
